Drop in January RV shipments “was expected” in US market

A sharp drop in RV shipments in January 2023 compared to the previous year in the USA “was expected” according to the country’s RV Industry Association. The latest figures show that 20,405 units were shipped in January this year, which is 61.8 per cent down on the 53,351 shipped in January 2022. This drop can be accounted for by the record-high production that 2022 saw, according to the RV Industry Association. Its president and CEO, Craig Kirby, said: “With record high RV production through the first half of 2022, the year over year decrease we are seeing in this report was expected.

“We are encouraged by the positive news and high attendance at RV shows across the country and the strong reservation numbers reported by campgrounds.”

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, ended the month down (-66.8 per cent) against last January with 16,117 shipments. Motorhomes finished the month down (-10.1 per cent) compared to the same month last year with 4,288 units.
