Former RV rental business duo aim to shake up the market

California-based RKS Off-Road is about to start the first customer shipments of its brand new Purpose Trailer – a product the relatively new company believes can challenge conventions in the RV Industry. The Purpose Trailer is an ultra lightweight trailer with full outdoor kitchen, separate bedroom and bathroom and huge water storage capacity, and its creators claim it offers a level of product quality and durability not seen before in the market. The product was created by couple Elisabeth Gritsch and Travis King, who decided that there was a gap in the RV trailer market for a product of long-term quality and innovation, based on their own experiences in the industry.

“Everything we do at RKS Off-Road is designed and engineered to provide customized solutions for the most demanding and discerning of adventurers,” said Elisabeth Gritsch.

“We spent years in the RV rental business and were constantly disappointed with the low levels of quality in both materials and craftsmanship. Launching RKS has allowed us to challenge the status quo.”

So, what’s the deal? The Purpose Trailer aims to solve many of the frustrations that Elisabeth and her co-founder Travis King experienced in the rental business – both from their own perspective and that of their customers. It features a full outdoor kitchen including a 20k BTU dual burner portable stove, stainless steel professional-style sink, slide out tray for either a cooler or fridge/freezer and built-in storage. The separate bedroom and bathroom include a full shower, ceramic toilet and wall mirror. The bedroom offers a modular configuration which can be set for two singles or one queen. The Purpose Trailer also offers 70-gallon (264 ltr) capacity water and LP tanks.

“Our aim in launching RKS Off-Road and our Purpose Trailer was to channel our personal passion for the outdoors and team that with our professional experience in the automotive sector to raise the bar for quality and durability,” said Travis King. “Our team has collectively spent decades in the quality and integrity-focused automotive industry, working for OEMs including Audi, Daimler and Ferrari. This experience allows us to take learnings from the industry's proven quality and reliability processes and tools. At our development facility, we bring this knowledge to life, modifying and applying tried and tested development and prototyping processes to create industry-leading recreational vehicles.”
