French caravan show sees 10 per cent increase in visitors

The 56th edition of French camping and caravanning show Salon des Véhicules de Loisirs saw almost 91,000 visitors attend when it took place in Paris from 24 September to 2 October this year. That figure represented an increase in the attendance figure of about 10 per cent when compared to the 2021 edition – following on from similar patterns seen at Germany’s Caravan Salon and Italy’s Salone del Camper.

Salon des Véhicules de Loisirs brought together enthusiasts and industry members from around the world including manufacturers and converters of motorhomes, campervans, caravans, mobile homes and also accessory and service providers. The first weekend of the show recorded the highest number of visitors, registering about 17 per cent more than the other days.

Pierre Rousseau, president of the Salon des Véhicules de Loisirs, said: “This new edition was eagerly awaited in more ways than one. Travelling in a leisure vehicle (motorhomes, vans and box vans) is increasingly becoming a fashionable way of life. The visitors were therefore all very impatient to be able to discover in real conditions all the new products of the biggest brands and to project themselves into what their next holidays or future weekends on board a leisure vehicle could be like.”

The next edition of the show will have a new location at the Parc des Expositions de Villepinte and will have slightly later dates in the year of 7 to 15 October.

Pierre Rosseau explained: “This is a significant change for all the regulars of the VDL Show, but we are all very enthusiastic about the idea of moving to the Villepinte Exhibition Centre, which has high-quality infrastructures and spaces to host a show like ours.”
