Hobby and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles agree to long-term cooperation

German caravan and motorhome specialist Hobby has agreed a long-term cooperation with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV), with new vehicles expected to be displayed at Caravan Salon 2022. The first stage of the new partnership will see Hobby offering its own motorhome solutions based upon the Volkswagen Crafter panel van.

Lars Krause, VWCV board member responsible for sales and marketing, said: “We have seen a steadily growing trend in our motorhomes over the past few years. This not only applies to our California models, but to the entire industry. 'Vanlife' has become a real lifestyle.

Therefore we are very much looking forward to the partnership with Hobby. We are firmly convinced that our Crafter is an ideal base vehicle for Hobby motorhomes.”

Hobby managing director Bernd Löher added: “The cooperation with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is trend-setting for the Hobby-Fendt Group and opens up completely new possibilities for us. The Crafter comes with all the features that our customers already know from their cars and value, especially in terms of safety. For Hobby, it is the ideal time for the strategic expansion of the portfolio and entry into the premium segment of campervans - one of the rapidly growing categories in the leisure vehicle market.”
