Morelo expanding production to meet rising demand

Premium German motorhome brand Morelo has begun building a brand-new factory in a bid to expand its production capacity to meet continuing rising demand. Morelo, which is part of the Knaus Tabbert Group, will be building the new factory hall on the premises of its operation in Schlüsselfeld, near Bamberg in central Germany – the facility will contain a fully-fledged, state-of-the-art production line that will help the company cement its place as a leading premium motorhome brand.

Morelo managing director, Robert Crispens, said: “With the factory expansion, we are taking the next big step into the future. The new Plant 2, as well as already the significant expansion of Plant 1 and the extension of the exhibition space for our vehicles, all this is the basis for being able to grow further with our own power and at the same time to implement the first class wishes of our customers even better, more individually and faster.”

Plant 2 will help Morelo increase production capacity, as well as providing expansion to its design and prototyping team. The expansion will increase the number of employees at Morelo headquarters from 450 to around 550.

At a special ground-breaking ceremony for Plant 2, Morelo’s co-managing director Reinhard Löhner described it as: “a real further milestone for MORELO, but also of a strong impulse for the entire region. Whereas until a few years ago it was normal for employees to make the daily journey from Schlüsselfeld to Bamberg, Würzburg or even Erlangen and Nuremberg, thanks to hidden champions like MORELO the reverse route is now also a real option for more and more people.”
