Outwell expands drive-away awning range targeting outdoor adventurers

Danish camping brand Outwell has added two new drive-away awnings and a versatile tarp to its Active Collection in a bid to meet the demand from the growing market of adventure campervan users. The new launches have been developed to be low weight, have small pack sizes, and offer great performance to users of campervans, vans, and small SUVs who are looking to combine camping with outdoor activities.

The first of the new Outwell launches is the Dunecrest (pictured above), which builds on the popularity of the Sandcrest models and is designed for smaller units like the Citroën Berlingo of the Volkswagen Caddy. the Dunecrest provides rear living space with detachable groundsheet thanks to ingenious connection to the rear wheels and rear passenger grab handles. This Vehicle Attachment System keeps vehicle side doors clear of obstruction from guylines while allowing the tailgate or barn door to be used or locked shut with the awning in situ. A large mesh window with waterproof curtain, located in the front door, provides enhanced ventilation while protecting from rain. This door can also be used as a sun canopy using optional king poles.

The second awning in this release is the Shalecrest (pictured above) – a freestanding awning that is perfect for hard surfaces and pitches to the side of a campervan via Outwell’s Link Access Zone, which also provides an area where wet clothes and muddy boots can be stored away from the living space. The Shalecrest features large mesh windows with zip-close waterproof curtains to enhance ventilation. All window and fabric doors can be fully removed for panoramic views and are interchangeable to tailor location to suit needs. The addition of the HookTrack System in the living area allows lights and small items to be conveniently suspended where needed and a sewn-in groundsheet protects the living area. This drops down at the doors to prevent tripping or can be zipped up when extra protection from draughts, water ingress or insects is required.

Outwell has also released a new tarp, the Upcrest (pictured above), which easily adds shelter and privacy to the rear of a vehicle.

All the new models feature the tried and tested Outtex 3000 Select polyester fabric, enhanced by alloy poles, storm web tapes and the Outwell Wind Stabiliser System that provides a correctly secured awning stability in up to Force 10 storms.
