Vango launches augmented reality for customers

Leading British tent brand Vango is set to launch a new augmented reality technology that will allow customers to view full-size, virtual versions of its products to help inform buying decisions. Vango ViewAR is being described by the company as its biggest digital innovation and something that could revolutionise the camping industry by allowing people to view, measure and compare different caravan, motorhome or drive away awnings and tents to scale in real space quickly and easily. The technology will be officially launched at the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the NEC in Birmingham next week.

Vango’s marketing director, Robert Birrell, said: “Vango ViewAR is a landmark moment in the history of Vango, and once again further reinforces our position at the forefront of outdoor innovation. Marked as an industry first in the outdoor recreation space, it is set to revolutionise the way consumers and retailers view and inspect tents and awnings, opening countless options that simply wouldn’t have been possible previously. It will allow consumers to find the perfect tent or awning, while simultaneously allowing retailers to both maximise their physical capacity in store whilst creating a truly memorable consumer experience.”

The revolutionary technology is provided by London Dynamics and has been launched for the brand’s new Sentinel range of family tents, in addition to driveaway, caravan and motorhome awnings. The technology will be expanded to include Vango’s trekking tents and adventure tents later in 2023.

The launch is part of Vango’s ongoing sustainability mission, and further reiterates the brand’s ever-increasing green credentials. Vango ViewAR helps to reduce carbon footprints by removing the need to travel to a store to view outdoor gear and reducing the amount of space required by retailers to demonstrate one of the largest product ranges in the camping, caravan and outdoor living industry.
